In the small village of Domrémy in France, there lived a young girl named Joan. Joan was just a simple peasant, but she was anything but ordinary. From a very young age, Joan heard voices she believed were from God, telling her to help save France from the English during the Hundred Years' War.

Joan was scared at first. She didn't understand why she, a simple girl who couldn't even read or write, was chosen for such a big task. Yet, her faith was strong, and she trusted the voices she heard. At sixteen, she convinced a local commander to take her to the Dauphin Charles, whom she believed should be the true king of France. Dressed in armor and leading an army, Joan did what seemed impossible. She led the French to several victories, most famously at Orléans. This earned her the nickname "The Maid of Orléans."

But her journey was fraught with challenges. She faced disbelief, mockery, and even betrayal from those she helped. Joan's struggle wasn't just on the battlefield. She struggled with her faith too. She questioned if her voices were truly from God or if she was being deceived. Yet, every time she faced doubt, she remembered her duty and her unwavering belief in her divine mission.

Eventually, Joan was captured by the Burgundians, allies of the English, and put on trial for heresy. The court, biased and politically driven, twisted her words and her faith. Under pressure, she recanted her visions, but soon reaffirmed them, choosing to die for her beliefs rather than live without them. Joan was burned at the stake in 1431, at just nineteen years old. But her story didn't end there. Years later, she was declared a martyr, and in 1920, she was canonized as a saint.

Today, St. Joan of Arc is a model for:
